About the Association for Healing Arts & Artisans ~
Founded by Deborah Nickel of Auburn, CA, it is AHAA’s intention:
- To gather the wealth of local individuals who contribute to the health of our world and form a supportive community of healers.
- To give voice to this community through educating & informing the public about holistic alternatives available to them.
It is known that by gathering in community with a common intention, we have the power to create a healthy, peaceful, and joyful world for ourselves. That sounds good to me - especially during this particular time in history when we are on the cusp of great change. The evolving AHAA community is meant to support and contribute to a positive direction for this inevitable evolution at the same time that we celebrate our wonderfully diverse holistic community.
The manifestation of the Association for Healing Arts and Artisans began as an idea around 2002 before it had a name. After a gratifying exit from the corporate world, I (Deborah) became a practitioner in the now disbanded LightSpring Wellness Center. This was followed with experience gained while working for Barbara Williams in her successful endeavor to develop the Holistic Happenings magazine (now called “Balanced Life”); then followed by an association with the wonderful Suzie Daggett and her Insight Directory; and finally work that I did at Auburn Alchemy which included some event production. I saw a pattern in the work that I was being called to do. I realized an opportunity to bring community to alternative health practitioners in Placer County. Something that I have heard many voices agree would be beneficial to develop. Thus, in July 2009, AHAA began to take shape in earnest.
The first year and a half of AHAA’s incarnation focused on offering educational programs about holistic (body-mind-spirit) wellness, presentations on healing alternatives, and conscious entertainment events. Beginning with the 2011 New Year, the next step in AHAA’s evolution – the membership – will become available. Initially, the membership will offer the following benefits for the very affordable annual membership fee of $100, if paid in one payment. The idea is to make this affordable to everyone that would be eligible for membership. Initial benefits include:
~ Directory of Placer County Holistic Providers
~ Community Calendar of Classes & Events
~ The Library~ a public place to post your articles of interest, recommended reading, viewing, listening, etc.
Other Services on the website include:
~ The opportunity to have your own webpage on the site (for an additional charge)
~ Low cost advertising opportunities
- Free Monthly AHAA Newsletter complete with notification of upcoming events, low cost advertising opportunities and articles of interest to be shared with our growing distribution list of dedicated supporters.
- Event space/promotion – a forum to make your voice heard.
As membership and website audience expand, we plan to add to the benefits of membership in some, or maybe all, of the following ways. We are absolutely open to hearing any additional ideas. This is, after all, for you – the healers…
- Monthly Meet-ups for holistic practitioners
- Referral Service
- Holistic Living Fair in Placer County
- Discounts on business services
- Other services that will benefit the holistic community
It is my sincere hope that you will be inclined to join with us in forming this dynamic community.
Blessings ~
